Now Education is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work at Wirral Met College, supporting young people and adults with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We are looking for caring, patient and enthusiastic individuals who can build positive relationships with learners and provide the right balance of encouragement, practical support and independence.
These are excellent opportunities for experienced Learning Support Assistants as well as candidates from SEND, schools, colleges, care, support work or similar backgrounds who are looking to develop their career within Further Education.
Interviews will be taking place week commencing 24th September, with temp-to-perm opportunities available for successful candidates.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching and support staff to help learners successfully access their education and college experience.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to young people and adults with SEND.
- Supporting learners with a range of additional learning needs.
- Helping learners access lessons, activities and course materials.
- Adapting your communication and support according to individual needs.
- Encouraging learners to develop their confidence, independence and life skills.
- Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
- Helping learners remain engaged and motivated during lessons.
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation where required.
- Working closely with tutors, support teams and other professionals.
- Promoting an inclusive environment where learners feel safe, respected and supported.
- Following college safeguarding and SEND procedures at all times.
What We're Looking For
To be considered for these positions, you will need:
- GCSE Grade C/Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Previous experience working with young people and/or adults with SEND.
- A genuine interest in supporting learners with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive professional relationships.
- The ability to adapt your approach according to the needs of individual learners.
- A reliable and professional approach to work.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.
Experience may have been gained within a school, college, SEND provision, care setting, supported living environment, youth service or similar setting.
