Working Pattern: Friday 6am–2pm, Saturday and Sunday 6am–6pm, Monday 6am–2pm
Hours: 40 hours per week

We are looking for a dependable and hands-on Plant Hygiene Supervisor to support weekend and early-week plant hygiene operations at Pladis / McVitie's Carlisle.
This role will focus on supervising hygiene teams during line cleaning, plant cleaning and scheduled hygiene activities. You will help ensure production areas are cleaned safely, effectively and ready for inspection or handover.
This is a key supervisory role requiring strong standards, good communication and the ability to support teams during busy cleaning windows.
- Supervise hygiene operatives carrying out plant and production line cleaning.
- Allocate cleaning tasks and monitor completion throughout the shift.
- Ensure cleaning standards are checked and corrected where required.
- Support deep cleaning, line cleaning, changeover cleaning and scheduled hygiene tasks.
- Ensure site procedures, Cleaning Work Instructions and safe systems of work are followed.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, COSHH and PPE standards.
- Complete and review hygiene records and sign-off documentation.
- Report defects, hazards, contamination risks, access issues or missed tasks.
- Support team training, coaching and day-to-day performance.
- Communicate effectively with hygiene management, production, engineering and technical teams.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous hygiene, cleaning, manufacturing or food production experience.
- Experience leading or supervising a team.
- Good understanding of plant and line cleaning standards.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving.
- Confidence to challenge unsafe working or poor hygiene standards.
- Good communication and organisation skills.
- Ability to work weekends as part of the regular shift pattern.
- A reliable, professional and flexible attitude.
Previous food manufacturing hygiene experience would be beneficial.
