Bristol | £42,000–£50,000 depending on experience
We are a well-established, growing independent accountancy practice based in Bristol, working predominantly with owner-managed businesses across a broad range of sectors.
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Senior / Assistant Manager to join our team and play an important role in the continued development of our accounts department.
This is not simply a preparation role. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, confident reviewing the work of others and capable of helping develop and support a small team of accounts staff.
The role will include:
- Reviewing year-end accounts prepared by junior and senior staff
- Preparing more complex accounts where required
- Reviewing corporation tax computations
- Identifying and resolving accounting and technical issues
- Supporting and developing less experienced members of the team
- Managing queries and communicating directly with clients
- Working closely with the partners on the delivery and improvement of client work
- Helping us continue to improve our systems, processes and turnaround times
About you
You will ideally have several years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice and be comfortable dealing with limited companies and owner-managed businesses.
ACA/ACCA qualification would be welcomed, although we would equally consider an experienced QBE or AAT-qualified candidate with the right level of practical experience.
Most importantly, you should be able to take ownership of a set of accounts, review work critically and identify issues rather than simply process information.
Why join us?
We are a friendly, established independent practice currently investing significantly in improving and modernising the way we work.
The successful candidate will have genuine responsibility, direct access to the partners and the opportunity to influence how the accounts function develops.
For the right person, there is a clear opportunity for the role to develop into a full Accounts Manager position.
