We are looking to recruit a Community Food Collections Driver and Support Worker. This is an opportunity for someone interested in facilitating a one stop service for local residents to support individual needs and engagement in a number of activities in our two community hubs in Trowbridge. Specifically to To work with the Community Manager and other statutory and community organisations to support the provision of three Community Fridges in Trowbridge.
Permanent Contract.
£13.45 per hour, 16hrs per week.

JOB PURPOSE
Trowbridge Future is a small independent charity supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the community of Trowbridge focused on the neighbourhoods of Studley, Seymour and Longfield. Trowbridge Future aims are to develop the capacity and skills of local residents to enable them to better identify and help meet their needs and to participate more fully in society.
Trowbridge Future runs a Community Hub in The Shires Shopping Centre and a Community Hub on the Seymour Estate that offer a calm space for the public to visit. Visitors include rough sleepers, the elderly, disabled, veterans suffering PTSD, people experiencing mental health concerns, those recovering from strokes and those suffering from social isolation. We run Community Fridges, Kindness Cafes, Craft groups, English classes and various pop-up events.
We have a thriving Youth Centre at the heart of Trowbridge, open four days a week every week. Purpose-designed with young people, the Centre runs free activities for children and young people from Year 4 upwards, offering them a safe and non-judgemental space, supported by trusted adults.
THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To work with the Community Manager and other statutory and community organisations to support the provision of three Community Fridges in Trowbridge.
The role will be venue based and mobile.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To undertake food collections of unsold food from supermarkets and food outlets in Trowbridge
- To distribute unsold food via our three community fridges on Longfield, Seymour and Studley Green
- To offer signposting support to members of the public accessing the community fridges
- Manage, oversee and accept notifications for food collections in a timely manner
- To return food containers to the correct supermarkets in a timely manner
- Ensure that the storage fridges are running at the right temperature
- Clean the fridges on a regular basis
- Liaise with food collection partners to cover annual leave
- Ensure that the food supplier allergen information is the latest copy and on display
- When collections are low, supplement with the items purchased (in the cupboard at Seymour Hub)
- Order supplementary food from funds raised for the project
- Liaise with other agencies and charities as appropriate
- Support the coordination of other community projects as and when required, such as Pop-Up Community Events
- Abide by and follow food hygiene and safeguarding guidelines laid out by Trowbridge Future, reporting any concerns within the outlined timescales.

- To be responsible to the Community Manager for the day-to-day management of working hours

The post holder will need to complete DBS check.

Qualifications & Training:

Basic Education in Maths and English (GCSE, Basic Skills Level 2 or equivalent).
Good level of ICT literacy. Use of Microsoft packages: Word, Outlook, Excel and the Internet.
