About the Role
We are looking for a hands-onWorking Electrical Supervisor with strong practical knowledge of renewable technologies. You will lead and work alongside installation teams delivering Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP), battery storage, and electrical retrofit projects in domestic and commercial settings.
This is a working supervisor role, you will spend time doing practical work, while overseeing quality, compliance, safety, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and actively participate in the installation, testing, and commissioning of Solar PV systems, ASHP, battery storage, and associated electrical works
- Lead day-to-day site activities, mentoring electricians and apprentices
- Carry out and oversee inspection & testing, fault finding, and remedial works
- Ensure all work complies with BS 7671 (18th Edition), MCS standards, Building Regulations, DNO/ENA requirements, and relevant manufacturer guidelines
- Conduct or support site surveys, technical assessments, and pre-install checks for retrofit projects
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, including preparation/review of RAMS and promoting safe working practices
- Liaise with clients, tenants, project managers, and external parties
- Monitor quality, progress, and materials; resolve technical issues promptly on site
- Support continuous improvement of installation processes and standards
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent) with AM2 (or equivalent)
- Current 18th Edition BS 7671 qualification
- Inspection & Testing qualification (C&G 2391 or equivalent)
- Solid practical experience installing and supervising electrical works
- Good working knowledge of Solar PV systems (design principles, installation, commissioning, G98/G99)
- Experience with Air Source Heat Pumps and associated electrical controls/integration
- Experience of retrofit projects (existing buildings, fabric considerations, integration with existing systems)
- Strong understanding of electrical safety, quality control, and compliance
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
