A place worth leading
Archerfield Walled Garden is one of East Lothian's most distinctive destinations. A family-owned business set within a beautiful working estate, our Garden Café draws customers from across East Lothian, Edinburgh and further.
The front of house team is close-knit and built on teamwork. Everyone works closely together – particularly on weekends when the café can be at capacity and the pace is full on. If you thrive in that kind of environment and want to be part of a team that genuinely cares about what they do, this could be the right place for you.
What this role is
As Café Supervisor, you'll work alongside our management team to keep the front of house operation running smoothly. On your shift, you'll be a key point of contact for the team, making sure customers are having a great experience, and any issues are dealt with calmly and confidently.
You'll work alternate weekends as part of a structured rota. Weekends are our busiest days — with inside and outside seating, a buzzer system for busy periods and a full kitchen operating at full capacity. It's fast, it's rewarding, and shifts are varied.
Day to day
- Supervising and supporting the front of house team throughout your shift
- Being a visible, positive presence on the floor, setting the tone for the rest of the team
- Confidently managing your area. Whether that's the counter, the floor or the pass, with confidence and ownership
- Supporting the training and onboarding of new team members
- Keeping communication flowing between front of house and the kitchen
- Making sure the café looks and feels its best throughout the shift

- A calm, confident approach when service gets busy
- Strong communication skills, with customers, the kitchen, and your team
- Someone who takes pride in the details — presentation, service, atmosphere

- A genuine interest in hospitality and in being part of a growing company
What we offer
- 28–35 hours per week with a structured alternate weekend rota
- A genuinely distinctive workplace — one of East Lothian's most beautiful settings
- A Company that's developing and growing
