Trainee Estimator
Salary: 25k per annum

Work Location: The main work location will be at our office in Basildon. Surveys/measures will be Nationwide so travel is required.
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8am – 5pm. Friday: 8am - 4pm.
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive candidate to join our team based in Basildon. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of commercial and domestic flooring projects, supporting the business in securing new work and delivering profitable results.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and domestic flooring projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.
- Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in pricing.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to clarify project details and resolve any technical or commercial queries.
- Prepare and submit tenders and quotations within specified deadlines, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Assist the Contracts Management team to ensure smooth project handovers and cost control from tender to completion.
- Conduct site visits to take precise measurements and gather information for accurate project quotations.
Requirements
- No previous estimating experience is required for this role and full training/support will be provided
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) and outstanding computer literacy.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with a professional and confident approach when dealing with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities, capable of managing multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Licenses and Certifications
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential – site visits and client meetings required)
- CSCS Card (desirable)
- Health & Safety awareness training (desirable)
