We are looking for caring, committed and motivated Residential Family Assessment Support Workers to help us create a positive, therapeutic and child-centred environment where families receive the support they need and children remain at the heart of every decision.
Our residential family assessment centre provides evidence-based parenting assessments within a safe, nurturing environment. You'll support parents to develop their parenting skills while producing accurate, objective observations that contribute to evidence-based parenting assessments.
This role would suit someone who is compassionate, resilient and professionally curious, with the ability to balance empathy and support with accurate recording and clear professional boundaries.
We are opening a brand-new Residential Family Assessment Centre in Doncaster, supporting parents and their children (aged two years and under) whose parenting support needs have been identified by Children's Social Care.
Parents will live with their children in our residential assessment centre for approximately 12–20 weeks while their parenting capacity is assessed. Throughout each placement, our team provides practical and emotional support and guidance while completing detailed, objective observations of parenting and family life to contribute to evidence-based parenting assessments.
You will play an important role in helping parents develop confidence and independence while contributing to professional parenting assessments.

As we provide a 365-day service, the role includes early, late, and bank holiday shifts, together with participation in sleep-in rota where required. You will be required to work weekends as part of the rota, normally every other weekend, and participate in on-call rotas where required.
Your role will include:
- Supporting families with daily routines, boundaries, parenting strategies and the care of their children.
- Encouraging positive parenting and child development by supporting parents to meet their children’s needs.
- Monitoring child safety and responding to safeguarding concerns.
- Completing accurate written observations and incident reports.
- Maintaining a consistent, calm and professional environment.
- Working collaboratively with social workers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participating in supervision, training and continuous professional development.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
· Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People’s Workforce, Health & Social Care or a related field, or willingness to achieve this qualification while in post.
Desirable:
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience:
- Experience working with children and families.
- Experience within a family assessment centre or similar service is desirable but not essential.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Ability to remain calm, confident, and professional in challenging situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong observation, recording and objective report-writing skills.
- Ability to build positive professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Demonstrates compassion, integrity, and professionalism, and is committed to child-centred practice.
