Placements Officer
Role Overview
The Placements Officer will play a key role in supporting and retaining in-house foster carers by strengthening engagement, improving communication, and promoting placement stability.
This role focuses on building positive relationships with foster carers, coordinating engagement initiatives, and contributing to retention strategies that enhance outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for in-house foster carers, fostering strong and supportive relationships.
- Coordinate foster carer activities, appreciation events, training-linked engagement sessions, and recognition initiatives.
- Plan and support foster carer support groups alongside supervising social workers.
- Design, distribute, and analyse surveys and feedback to drive service improvement and improve carer retention.
- Maintain systems to monitor foster carer availability, capacity, and engagement levels.
- Develop and support peer networks and buddy systems for both new and existing carers.
- Identify carers requiring additional support and work proactively to prevent deregistration.
- Contribute to strategies that improve foster carer satisfaction, placement stability, and long-term retention.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience supporting foster carers or working within children's social care services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to organise and coordinate multiple activities and events effectively.
- Competence in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with social workers and management teams.
- Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
Desirable
- Knowledge of UK foster care regulations and standards.
- Experience developing peer support networks or buddy systems.
- Familiarity with survey design and feedback analysis.
- Experience in recruitment, engagement, or retention initiatives.
