We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join our Maxus UK Finance team based in Liverpool.
Job Purpose
Working as part of a busy finance team, and closely with the UK Finance Manager, your primary responsibilities will be to:
· Assist with preparation of month-end accounts for the UK entities, including bank and intercompany and other reconciliations
· Monitor compliance with budgets and targets
· Payroll and expense processing and reporting
· Prepare ad-hoc reports
· Support the Maxus UK finance manager and the Maxus UK team
The successful candidate will report into the Finance Manager Maxus UK and work closely with the wider finance team.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Reconciling key balance sheet accounts, including stock, intercompany balances, OZEV grants, payroll and VAT and others, and ensuring their integrity.
· Month-End Closing: Co-ordinate month-end closing activities as required. Provide all necessary reporting and analysis required to support the Group month end close.
· Payroll: As the Harris Group point of contact with our payroll bureau, ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time. Oversee all payroll postings to the accounts on a monthly basis, and prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
· Expenses: Assume ownership of our expense process and procedures, to enable accurate and timely payment of expenses to employees, through our expense system, and in line with the expenses policy. Oversee all expense postings to the accounts on a monthly basis, and prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
· Banking: Reconcile various group bank accounts and finance providers in a timely manner throughout the month and at month end, in line with agreed timelines.
· Reporting and support: Prepare weekly and monthly reports and provide general support to the Maxus UK finance manager and the finance team, and assist with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects.
· Audit Support: Prepare files for auditors, including preparing schedules, evidence, and other backup for our auditors and other external bodies as required.
· Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function and the business. Challenge current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost savings whenever possible. Proactively support with the implementation of wider finance and business initiatives.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· Accounting technician or part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA.)
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in an accounting role. Strong knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting principles. Excellent analytical and numerical skills and a good knowledge of excel and accounting software.
· Must have experience of monthly accounts processing, completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and payroll processing.
· Dynamic and pro-active, with great attention to accuracy and detail. Cares about the quality and standard of their work.
· Inquisitive and inquiring, and able to grasp complex processes and understand their basic accounting implications.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to build rapport with various colleagues and stakeholders.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously, whilst still meeting deadlines.
· Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and a proactive approach to individual tasks. Flexible and prepared to assist others within Finance team where necessary. A positive and adaptable approach to work and change.
· Experience of, or interest in, the motor industry, while not necessary, would be an advantage
