WJ South West is looking for a Commercial Lead to work on their National Highways contract. The Commercial Lead and Framework Manager operate as an integrated two-person leadership team on the National Highways contract. The position leads on pricing, contract administration and financial reporting/management.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with National Highways design teams during the pre-scheme stage, attending joint meetings alongside the Framework Manager to understand scheme scope, constraints, and client expectations from the outset
- Work collaboratively with the Framework Manager as part of the delivery team, providing commercial input and support across all stages of the contract
- Actively monitor the contract's Defined Cost components in line with Option C requirements, updating cost rates and resource assumptions when market or contract changes occur. Manage the contracts SOR in line with this, provide NH with a detailed package of this detail.
- Manage all contract communications through CEMAR, ensuring every Early Warning Notice (EWN), Compensation Event (CE), and formal instruction is issued, tracked, and responded to within the contractual timescales stipulated under the contract
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly applications for payment directly to National Highways, ensuring submissions are supported by appropriate records and comply with contract requirements
Requirements:
- Highly motivated individual with experience in commercial management.
- An individual who can maintain meticulous records across pricing, forecasting, contract administration, compensation event management and financial reporting.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills are essential, enabling them to build productive relationships with National Highways, operational teams and other key stakeholders.
- Highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting strict contractual and reporting deadlines while maintaining accurate commercial records and robust governance processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems is expected, and, above all, they will be collaborative, proactive and solution focused.
