We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly nursery team, helping us prepare fresh, nutritious meals for over 100 children every single day.
No two mornings are the same in our kitchen. One minute you'll be preparing fruit platters and homemade lunches, the next you'll be supporting special dietary requirements, keeping everything sparkling clean, and helping create positive food experiences for our children.
What you'll do:
- Support the Nursery Chef with the preparation of fresh meals and snacks
- Assist with general kitchen duties, including food preparation and portioning
- Wash up throughout the day and help keep the kitchen clean, organised, and running smoothly
- Prepare meals and snacks, including taking meals out to the nursery rooms and collecting them back in after mealtimes
- Support with setting up and clearing down meal services
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation, and stock rotation
- Follow food hygiene and food safety procedures at all times
- Support with managing allergies and dietary requirements safely and confidently
- Help ensure mealtimes run smoothly for over 100 children every day
- Step up to cover the Nursery Chef during holidays and planned absences, with support from the wider team
What we're looking for:
- Someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food preparation practices
- A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Someone who takes pride in preparing high-quality food for children
- Experience in catering or food preparation is desirable
- Confidence to take responsibility and support kitchen operations when needed
- A caring individual who understands that mealtimes are an important part of children's daily experiences
