Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Night Carer to join our care home team. This vital role involves providing high-quality overnight care and support to our residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night. Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety and wellbeing of residents during night shifts, responding promptly to their needs and emergencies.
- Supervise and support j care staff, ensuring high standards of care are maintained throughout the night.
- Implement and review personalised care plans for residents, ensuring all needs are met effectively.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as mobility, medication administration, and hygiene routines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of residents' conditions, incidents, and care provided during the shift.
- Communicate effectively with day staff during handovers to ensure continuity of care.
- Manage any unforeseen situations with professionalism and calmness, demonstrating leadership in challenging circumstances.
- Support residents with organising activities or providing companionship to promote their mental and emotional wellbeing.
- Utilise IT systems for recording care activities and updating resident information as required.
- Administer medication safely and accurately in line with policies, procedures and legislation, maintaining accurate records and promptly reporting any medication concerns or errors.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior or elderly care settings, preferably within a care home environment.
- Supervising or leadership experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, during night shifts while maintaining high standards of care.
- Knowledge of care plans, medication procedures, and health & safety protocols.
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes.
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for transportation duties if required.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for older adults.
- Flexibility to work night shifts on a rota basis; previous supervisory experience is preferred but not essential.
