General Shop Assistant

As a General Shop Assistant at Denstone Hall, you will play an important role in creating an enjoyable shopping experience for our customers. This position will primarily be based in our popular gift shop, helping customers discover unique gifts, homewares, and seasonal products. There may also be occasional crossover into the farm shop, supporting the wider retail team as required.
This role suits someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining attractive displays, and can help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our customers. It’s not for the faint hearted, its busy, just the way we like it and gift deliveries can be heavy. Retail experience is an advantage and the ability to work on your own initiative along with a positive attitude, a creative mind, attention to detail and a passion for food and local values.
Hours
- 3–4 days per week
- Approximately 24 hours per week
- Includes 1 weekend day
What You'll Do
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service
- Ensure the gift shop is well stocked, tidy, and attractively presented
- Assist customers with product enquiries and purchases
- Create and maintain appealing product displays and seasonal promotions
- Process sales accurately through the till system
- Monitor stock levels and report replenishment requirements
- Support the wider retail team within the farm shop when required
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and customer experience throughout the shop
