J Medler Haulage Co Ltd are currently looking for a class 2 HGV Hiab driver to transport and deliver goods and raw materials across the UK using our modern fleet of units. We move mostly building products in the form of bricks and blocks for J Medler Ltd Builders Merchants locally around East Anglia. Other booked work is around home counties, and southern areas including London. If you enjoy working by yourself, want a job that makes use of your driving skills and one that can take you all over the country and don't mind a few nights out per week, this could be the role for you. Please be aware we're looking at applicants with hi-ab experience and a valid cert - ALLMI preferred as crane work is 90% of work carried out. CPC courses are provided and staff expected to make dates given. Failing that it's the employees responsibility. Hiab training is provided and paid for for future refreshments, on site shower and welfare facilities for HGV drivers. Weekend work is very rare but we do the odd Saturday if required locally for our builders merchants.
Apart from driving, your duties would include: Using hi-abs, planning delivery schedules and routes with transport managers supervising or helping to load and unload goods making sure loads are safely secured following traffic reports and changing your route if necessary completing delivery paperwork and log books You may also deal with basic routine maintenance, such as oil, tyre and brake checks.
The ideal skills and qualifications we would be looking for:
- Excellent driving skills
- The ability to work alone and concentrate for long periods
- A polite manner with customers, when picking up or dropping off loads
- A good understanding of safety, on the road and when loading and unloading
- The ability to complete record sheets and paperwork accurately
- A reasonable level of fitness to work with loads
- Good understanding mobiles phones and apps
- To be trustworthy and reliable
- On average 2/3 nights out a week
- Hgv class two licence with a max of 6 points
- Cpc licence
- Hiab ticket
- Have a current digi card
- Have good knowledge and follow the working time and driving time directives
