The Role
This is a hands-on role combining practice management with technical delivery.
You'll work closely with C Suite to keep the accountancy operational function running smoothly — from workflow and deadlines to staffing and client service whilst reviewing work prepared by the team.
You will need to be comfortable working in a tech-first environment, using MazApp, our proprietary, cutting-edge software platform.
About the role:
- Managing workflow, deadlines and WIP across the teams
- Line-managing and developing the accountancy and client service team
- Reviewing client work and supporting staff with technical queries
- Overseeing AML and practice compliance requirements
- Analyse and action performance data to drive outcomes
- Lead key projects focused on technical and process improvements.
- Identify operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Act as the subject expert, staying up-to-date with accountancy and tax updates, providing trusted knowledge to the team and ensuring the team are aware of any changes
- Dealing with third parties (such as advisors, auditors and HMRC) to respond to enquiries
- Champion and embed process and tech development
- Consistently demonstrate the Mazuma values
About You:
You are a Practice Manager or Operations Manager, with experience working for an Accountancy Practice firm or another type of professional practice, looking for your next challenge. You will bring a a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and high levels of personal accountability with an open and adaptable approach and a willingness to work differently to traditional accountancy firms
You will bring:
- ACA/ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience with strong practice background
- Proven experience in a UK accountancy practice
- Proven experience of managing a team
- Confident with cloud accounting and practice management software
- Organised, calm under deadline pressure, and a clear communicator
- High confidence using accounting software and digital tools, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Strong IT skills and numerical accuracy
