About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, organised, and calm junior chef to support all things food at our newly opening site this October. This is a practical, prep-heavy role for someone who works cleanly and communicates well. This role is all about clean prep, consistency and keeping cool under pressure - perfect for someone who thrives in a tight-knit, fast-moving team. This role will be based at Northcote Road to start and moving to Parsons Green once fully opened and operational.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who has worked in a cafe or production kitchen environment, knows how to efficiently prep food, has experience with hot food service and is ready to take more ownership.
What You’ll Do
- Stay ahead of prep: portioning, stock rotation, and simple batch work
- Restock and reset the line between busy spells
- Keep the kitchen space organised, tidy, and compliant
- Help reduce waste, portion correctly, and maintain food hygiene standards
- Food Ordering
- Communicate clearly with the team and stay responsive to service pace
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be working right alongside the team, so clean habits, clear communication, and a steady pace are key.
- 1-2 years experience in a food role
- Calm and steady during fast service
- Clean, methodical, and practical - no drama, no shortcuts
- Takes pride in doing simple things well
- Works well in a small team where everyone supports each other
- Punctual, hands-on, and ready to learn. We value people who show up on time, stay focused during service, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly.
About the Deli
Popin is a neighbourhood grocery store, deli and coffee shop opened in Pimlico in September 2019. Popin is at the very heart of London’s vibrant food community. It’s the shop where you can POP-IN and will always find something good; outstanding coffees from early in the morning, going through the afternoon when we make our customers seriously happy with our notorious Banana Bread. We are great at getting suppers sorted too as we offer an exciting selection of fresh produce, dinner party short-cuts, special wines and cheeses.
The opening of our third shop, located in Parsons Green, is getting close and we are now on the hunt for an energetic and positive Prep Chef to join our growing Popin family.
Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
