Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our educational team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and enhancing the learning experience for students, particularly those with special educational needs. Duties
- Support classroom teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual student needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Provide one-to-one or small group tutoring and mentoring to enhance student understanding and engagement.
- Assist in implementing personalised education programmes, including for students with autism or other specific learning difficulties.
- Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, and other activities to ensure safety and behaviour management.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence among all pupils.
- Support students with behavioural challenges by applying positive behaviour management strategies.
- Contribute to the assessment of student progress and prepare reports as required.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to support holistic student development.
- Assist in organising resources and adapting materials to meet individual learning needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children within an educational setting is essential.
- Knowledge of special education practices, including working with individuals with disabilities or autism, is highly desirable.
- Prior experience tutoring or mentoring students can be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills are vital for effective interaction with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
- A recognised qualification in supporting teaching or special educational needs (such as CACHE Level 3 or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team within a busy school environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding procedures and promoting inclusive education practices.
