Marshmallow Toasting Company is looking for reliable, responsible and enthusiastic Staff Operatives to operate our luxury marshmallow toasting stations at exciting winter events across the UK.
We are recruiting multiple operatives for each event location. Successful applicants will be part of a small team of approximately 3–4 staff, with shifts shared between the team throughout the event period.
You will generally work independently during your individual shift, but you will not be expected to work every day of the event. We will create a rota so that shifts and days are divided between the team based on availability and the requirements of the event.
Location - Farmer Scott's, Coxtie Green Rd, Brentwood CM14 5RH
Pay - £16.00 per hour
Hours & Rota - Typical shifts will be approximately 10:00am - 5:00pm, although start and finish times may vary depending on the individual event.
You will not be expected to work every day of the event.
We will recruit several operatives for each location and create a rota across the event period. Applicants should provide their availability when applying, and shifts will be allocated accordingly. There may also be opportunities for additional shifts during particularly busy periods.
The Role
As a Marshmallow Toasting Staff Operative, you will be responsible for independently operating our marshmallow toasting station during your allocated shifts and providing customers with a friendly, professional and enjoyable experience.
Your duties will include:
- Opening and setting up the marshmallow toasting station at the start of your shift
- Safely operating the marshmallow toasting station throughout the event
- Welcoming and serving customers
- Serving marshmallows
- Taking payments and operating the till
- Assisting customers where required and ensuring they use the toasting facilities safely
- Keeping the service hut, toasting areas and surrounding area clean, tidy and presentable
- Monitoring stock levels and ensuring the station remains adequately stocked
- Following food hygiene, fire safety and health and safety procedures
- Taking responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of your working area
- Working independently and using your own initiative throughout your shift
- Closing down and securing the marshmallow toasting station at the end of your shift
- Completing all required closing procedures, including completing the daily food hygiene diary and ensuring the station is clean, organised and ready for the next operating day
Who We're Looking For
As you will generally be the only member of our team working at the marshmallow toasting station during your allocated shift, you need to be comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for the operation.

- Are friendly, approachable and confident dealing with customers
- Are hardworking and able to remain calm during busy periods
- Take pride in keeping their working area clean and organised
- Can follow procedures and safety instructions carefully
- Are comfortable working outdoors in cold and potentially wet winter conditions
- Are trustworthy and responsible
- Can work evening and weekend shifts
- Have a professional attitude and represent the company well
Previous experience in hospitality, catering, retail, events or customer service is beneficial, but is not essential.
Food Hygiene - A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is preferred and will be taken into consideration during the selection process.
If you do not currently hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, training can be provided where necessary.

Important Information

During your allocated shifts, however, you will be responsible for operating the marshmallow toasting station independently. This means applicants must be reliable, self-motivated and comfortable taking responsibility for opening, operating and closing the station without direct supervision.
