Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Petrol Station Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy petrol station and convenience store. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining compliance with company and regulatory requirements, controlling stock and cash management processes, and driving sales performance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the petrol station and convenience store.
- Ensure the site is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
- Monitor fuel and shop sales performance and implement strategies to improve profitability.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Manage supplier relationships and coordinate deliveries.
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and develop team members.
- Prepare staff rotas and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Conduct performance reviews and address employee relations matters.
- Promote a positive working environment and high standards of customer service.
Customer Service
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service.
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally.
- Ensure staff maintain excellent service standards at all times.
- Support frontline operations during busy periods.
Financial Management and Banking
- Oversee daily cash handling procedures.
- Prepare and reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Conduct banking activities including cash reconciliation, deposits, and record keeping.
- Monitor costs, control wastage, and manage budgets.
- Ensure accurate operation of EPOS and payment systems.
Stock Control
- Monitor inventory levels for fuel, shop products, and consumables.
- Manage stock ordering, receiving, and stock audits.
- Investigate and address stock discrepancies.
- Implement measures to minimise shrinkage and losses.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with age-restricted sales regulations.
- Maintain accurate operational and financial records.
- Ensure licensing, fuel safety, and environmental regulations are followed.
- Cooperate with audits and inspections.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience managing a petrol station, convenience store, supermarket, or retail operation.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with cash management, banking, and financial reconciliation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of stock control and retail operations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience managing fuel forecourt operations.
- Knowledge of health and safety and fuel industry regulations.
- Experience using retail management and EPOS systems.
