Nursery Cook – Chapter One Childcare, Farnley
Are you passionate about creating fresh, nutritious and delicious food for young children? We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Cook to join our friendly team at Chapter One Childcare, Farnley, our Ofsted Outstanding nursery set in a beautiful countryside setting.

Previous Kitchen Experience is Essential
To apply for this position, you MUST have previous experience of working in a busy kitchen. You will need to be confident working independently, managing a busy kitchen and preparing food to a high standard while meeting dietary, hygiene and safety requirements.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and serving fresh, nutritious meals, desserts and snacks for babies and children aged 3 months–5 years.
- Creating interesting, healthy and seasonal menus that meet the nutritional needs of young children.
- Managing allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements, ensuring allergen information is accurate and up to date.
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and infection-control standards throughout the kitchen.
- Completing daily food temperature checks, records and the Safer Food, Better Business documentation.
- Managing food ordering, stock levels and kitchen supplies within agreed budgets.
- Ensuring kitchen equipment is safe, clean and well maintained.
- Following all nursery health & safety, safeguarding and food hygiene procedures.
You'll have dedicated time within your working day to prepare fresh food, complete the necessary paperwork and ensure the kitchen is thoroughly cleaned and ready for the following day.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in working in a busy kitchen – essential.
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Passionate about providing healthy and enjoyable food for children.
- Knowledgeable about food allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Committed to high standards of hygiene, health and safety.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate holder (essential, although training can be arranged).

Hours
Monday–Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm.
Hours may be negotiable for the right candidate.
