Purpose of the job:
To help to support an individual child with developmental progress. This is in all areas but particularly focussing on Physical, Communication and Language, Social and Emotional skills, Routines and Health and Self Care Needs.

Barrow Pre-School Playgroup is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is a requirement of all staff that they share this commitment and follow the prescribed policy and procedures to continuously promote a culture of safeguarding across the whole organisation.
Main duties
1. Greet child and parent/carer at the beginning of a session.
2. Communicate and liaise effectively with parent and playgroup SENDCo and other staff.
3. In liaison with the SENDCo, carry out tasks to achieve targets from Target Plan and Daily Session Plan. Feedback and record achievements, observations and any concerns to the SENDCo. Contribute to the child’s learning journey by making written observations and uploading them to the online journal.
4. Contribute ideas for suitable activities to support the child’s needs.
5. Be very vigilant and observant to the child’s health and safe care needs at all times. Sit with child and support throughout snack times.
6. To attend training courses as required and to take responsibility for personal development.
7. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job.
8. To be aware of and adhere to all the setting’s operational policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children, food safety, cleanliness of the setting. This job description is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post holder will be required to undertake any other reasonable duties discussed and directed by the line manager. The post holder is also expected to be flexible and adaptable in their approach to fulfilling their duties.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
