Job Title: Class 1 Driver
Salary: £40,000.00 - £50,000.00
Location: Swindon
Shift: 50 Hrs (Mon-Fri Days)
We’re looking for an experienced LGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to join our transport team, transporting heavy plant and equipment to and from customer sites.
This is a role for a professional driver who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of safe and responsible vehicle operation, and is confident working around construction sites and heavy plant.

Class 1 Driver - The Role
- 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime available when operationally required.
- Occasional Saturday work may be required.
- Transport heavy plant and equipment safely to and from customer and company sites.
- Carry out vehicle checks and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and fit for purpose.
- Complete all required tachograph, driving and vehicle documentation accurately.
- Liaise professionally with customers, site teams, colleagues and the transport office.
- Ensure safe access to and from sites, minimising disruption to customers and other site operations.
- Load, secure, transport and unload equipment safely in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Maintain a clean and professional vehicle and take pride in its condition.
- Report defects, damage, incidents, near misses or other concerns promptly.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and transport legislation.
- Attend required training, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Class 1 Driver - What We're Looking For
We’re particularly interested in experienced Class 1 / LGV drivers who are confident working independently and understand the standards expected in professional heavy haulage and plant transport.
You should have:
- A full Category C+E (Class 1) driving licence.
- A valid Driver CPC qualification.
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- A clean and safe driving record.
- Previous experience in LGV, plant transport, plant hire or a similar role.
- Good knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachograph requirements and relevant transport legislation.
- A strong understanding of vehicle safety and daily defect checks.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach to customers and colleagues.
- The ability to work safely and confidently on customer and construction sites.
- A reliable, flexible and safety-conscious attitude.
Class 1 Driver - Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Heavy plant or construction equipment transport.
- Plant hire or logistics.
- Operating around construction and customer sites.
- Plant loading, securing and transportation.
- Knowledge of plant and equipment.
- CSCS Health and Safety Site Visitor Card.
