South Tyneside Council’s Housing Services are seeking an exceptional strategic leader to take on the role of Head of Repairs and Maintenance. This is a pivotal position which is responsible for ensuring our homes are safe, well maintained and meet the expectations of our tenants and residents.
As our organisational lead for our Housing Services repairs and maintenance, you will shape and direct the Council’s approach to high-quality, responsive, value for money repairs, maintenance and investment services across our housing portfolio. You will oversee key operational areas including Responsive Repairs, Disrepair and Improvement, Empty Homes, Gas and Special Services (asbestos and water management).
You will lead the Repairs and Maintenance Team to deliver high quality services, ensuring tenants remain safe in their homes while driving continual improvement, robust oversight and consistent performance. You will be managing significant budgets and leading a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with Elected Members, senior officers, contractors and tenants to deliver excellent outcomes and ensure compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements.
This is a senior leadership role requiring vision, innovation and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes while delivering strong operational outcomes. We are looking for an ambitious and experienced housing professional with a proven recent track record of leading repairs and maintenance services within a local authority, housing association, or large social housing organisation.
