The Patient Advocate serves as the primary local representative for patients receiving medical care, working closely with the Global Coordination Centre (GCC) to ensure timely access to treatment, coordinate payments with healthcare facilities, and support patients throughout their medical journey. It's a On-call role, candidate must be located in Matamoros, Mexico or stay close to this place.
- Respond to GCC requests and remain available during designated coverage hours.
- Meet patients at medical facilities promptly after notification.
- Coordinate with hospitals and clinics regarding payment arrangements and admissions.
- Facilitate quick access to medical care and resolve issues professionally.
- Provide verbal and written translation between the local language/dialect and English.
- Support patients emotionally and practically during hospital stays.
- Liaise with treating physicians to obtain medical updates.
- Report patient status and treatment plans to the GCC regularly.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and client representatives.
- Use local knowledge to arrange additional services as needed.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a healthcare professional in the local area.
- Fluent in English and the relevant local language/dialect.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in multicultural environments.
- Familiarity with case management or coordination centers is advantageous.
- Foreign travel experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Valid driver's license.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Frequent work within hospitals and medical facilities.
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Requires physical readiness, mobility, and regular interaction with individuals and groups.
