As General Manager of The Halfway House, you'll be the heartbeat of our pub and restaurant. From the morning coffee to the last orders bell, you'll make sure everything runs smoothly, our team feels supported, and every guest leaves happy.
What You'll Be Getting Up To
- Leading the day-to-day running of both the pub and restaurant with energy and enthusiasm
- Inspiring and developing a team who genuinely enjoy coming to work
- Keeping a close eye on the numbers with GP margins, stock control, and financial performance without losing sight of the guest experience.
- Building relationships with suppliers, locals, and regulars alike
- Making sure we're always on the right side of licensing laws, food hygiene standards, and health & safety requirements
- Getting involved in recruitment and training, and helping your team grow
- Handling the unexpected with a cool head and a practical approach
What We're Looking For
You'll have hands-on experience running a pub with a restaurant, you know the difference between a smooth service and a chaotic one, and you know how to get the best out of a team under pressure. Beyond that, we're after someone who:
- Leads by example and isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up
- Communicates well whether that's with the kitchen, the bar team, or a table of unhappy guests
- Is financially savvy and understands what drives a profitable operation
- Has a genuine passion for great food, good drink, and warm hospitality
- Stays calm, organised, and positive even when it's manic
