Erban Homes manages a growing portfolio of social housing properties across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and hardworking Multi-Skilled Property Maintenance Operative to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a varied, hands-on role covering the everyday repairs, improvements and practical tasks that come with managing a large portfolio of properties.
The successful candidate must have strong carpentry skills while also being confident completing painting, decorating and general property maintenance. No two days will be the same, so we need someone adaptable who is willing to turn their hand to different tasks and takes pride in getting jobs completed properly.
Key responsibilities
- Completing general repairs and maintenance across our property portfolio
- Carrying out first and second-fix carpentry work
- Repairing and replacing doors, locks, handles, skirting boards and architraves
- Fitting and repairing kitchen units, worktops, shelving and other fixtures
- Completing minor joinery and woodwork repairs
- Painting and decorating rooms and communal areas
- Completing patch repairs and making good after maintenance work
- Minor plumbing tasks, such as replacing taps, toilet seats and fittings
- Sealing, silicone work and minor tiling repairs
- Assembling and installing furniture
- Moving furniture, appliances and other items between properties
- Assisting with property clearances and removals when required
- Preparing rooms and properties for new tenants
- Completing maintenance work in occupied and empty properties
- Identifying additional repairs or safety concerns and reporting them to management
- Collecting materials and keeping the company van organised
- Taking before-and-after photographs and updating completed job records
- Working respectfully and professionally around tenants, colleagues and external contractors
- Responding to urgent maintenance issues where reasonably required
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard

What we are looking for
- Strong, proven experience in carpentry or joinery
- Experience completing general property repairs and maintenance
- Competent in painting and decorating
- Basic knowledge of other trades, including plumbing, tiling and patch repairs
- Experience working across residential properties
- Able to work independently and manage a daily workload
- Comfortable working in occupied social housing properties
- Professional, respectful and confident when communicating with tenants
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Reliable, punctual and well organised
- Good attention to detail and high standards of workmanship
- Physically capable of moving furniture, materials and equipment
- Willing to complete both skilled maintenance and general practical tasks
- Able to use a smartphone to receive jobs, take photographs and provide updates
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
A trade qualification would be beneficial, but practical experience, reliability and quality of workmanship are equally important.
Pay: £32,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
