Payroll Data Administrator - Pay Services
Starting salary £25,758 plus bonus up to £300 per quarter
25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, and a company pension scheme with highly competitive employer contribution rates
Contract: Full time, fixed-term 12 months
Location: Royal Mail, Pond Street, Sheffield S98 6HR – hybrid working with 4 days in the office and 1 day working remotely

As a Payroll Data Administrator, you’ll be part of a team of over 100 colleagues responsible for maintaining and managing employee records and payroll information across one of the UK’s largest workforces.
About the role
You will be working within a team responsible for the payroll data management and maintenance of several company pension schemes. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll pension processes are delivered accurately on time, and in full compliance with auto-enrolment legislation, scheme rules, and statutory requirements.
What You'll Be Doing

Managing payroll pension data across multiple pension schemes.

Ensuring compliance with auto-enrolment legislation and contractual scheme requirements.

Processing employee pension transactions, including:
-
Opt-ins and opt-outs
-
Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs)
-
Pension enrolments and amendments
-
Preparing and uploading pension data files to pension providers.

Reconciling large volumes of member data between payroll and pension systems, covering over 100,000 members.

Analysing complex datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.

Applying robust checks and controls to maintain payroll accuracy and minimise risk.

Supporting the delivery of weekly and monthly payroll and pension deadlines.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to team meetings, and sharing best practice.

Taking ownership of your own development while supporting the wider team.
Royal Mail operate a large weekly (70k) and monthly (50k) payroll. You will support the wider delivery of Payroll processes accurately to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency. You’ll respond to queries with a professional, customer-first approach, identifying and escalating service issues promptly.
What we’re looking for
We're looking for a detail-focused and proactive individual with experience of pensionable pay and pension contributions processed through payroll.
You will be able to demonstrate:

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
It would also be advantageous if you have:

Experience of payroll administration involving pension deductions and pensionable pay.

Knowledge of pension legislation and associated payroll processes.
