Job Title: Care of the Elderly Consultant

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Geriatrician to join a well-established and thriving Geriatrics Department in the London region. The team is committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of our older population, delivering a comprehensive range of services across intermediate and secondary care, with a particular focus on early comprehensive geriatric assessment in the acute setting.
As a Consultant Geriatrician, you will be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading specialist multidisciplinary care on our wards for older people, ensuring the delivery of tailored, holistic treatment plans.
- Providing expert care as part of our comprehensive orthogeriatric service, focusing on the management and rehabilitation of older patients with fractures.
- Contributing to the Emergency Department Frailty Service, offering rapid assessment and management of frail older patients.
- Running outpatient clinics within our OPRAC/SDEC services, focusing on the management of complex geriatric syndromes.
- Collaborating with surgical teams through our surgical liaison service, ensuring the best outcomes for older patients undergoing surgery.
- Participating in our specialised Parkinson's service, providing expert management and support for older adults with Parkinson's disease.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Full GMC registration
- MRCP or FRCP qualification.
- Significant experience working in geriatrics, with a proven track record in delivering high-quality care to older patients.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and improving patient care.
