Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a reliable and skilled Maintenance Manager to provide an effective and responsive maintenance service across all areas of the care home, both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, versatile, and capable of working independently using initiative, while ensuring that the home remains safe, secure, well-maintained, and compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations. A strong understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance tasks throughout the care home, including minor repairs and improvements
- Undertake decorating of rooms and basic refurbishment work as required
- Conduct weekly fire safety maintenance checks and complete the relevant fire safety check sheets
- Monitor, record, and report water temperatures throughout the home, escalating any concerns to management immediately
- Maintain garden and external areas to a safe and presentable standard
- Always ensure the security of the building
- Check, maintain, and replace external lighting where required
- Inspect cellars and storage areas, removing broken or unwanted items safely
- Assist with the transportation, handling, and storage of deliveries
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Clean tumble dryer ducts and ensure laundry external areas are free from debris and hazards
- Liaise with and supervise external contractors when required
- Maintain confidentiality at all times and report any breaches of security or confidentiality immediately to management
Essential
- Proven experience across a range of maintenance tasks, including basic structural, electrical, and gas works
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practice
- Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and risk assessments
- Competent in the safe use of hand tools and maintenance equipment
- Ability to work independently using initiative while meeting deadlines and priorities
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal and IT skills
- Experience working alongside external contractors and manage a team
- A flexible and proactive approach to work
