Job Summary
Recovery North West is a rapidly growing vehicle recovery and roadside assistance provider operating across the North West and North Wales. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Workshop/Mobile Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our team. Working from our workshop or company-provided service van, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of commercial vans, light commercial vehicles and Recovery North West vehicles. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced technician who takes pride in their work, has strong diagnostic skills and enjoys working as part of a professional team.
Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on commercial vans and light commercial vehicles
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
- Use vehicle diagnostic equipment to identify faults and complete repairs
- Carry out vehicle inspections and defect rectification
- Diagnose and repair braking, suspension, steering and drivetrain systems
- Carry out electrical and lighting repairs
- Diagnose and repair starting and charging system faults
- Replace worn or defective vehicle components
- Carry out pre-MOT inspections and prepare vehicles for testing
- Identify faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
- Maintain accurate service, inspection and repair records
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high professional standard
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment
- Work closely with the wider Recovery North West team to keep vehicles operational
Experience
- At least 2 years' experience as a Vehicle Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician or similar
- Experience working on commercial vans / light commercial vehicles
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Good knowledge of braking, suspension, steering and drivetrain systems
- Experience diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults
- Ability to use vehicle diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work independently and manage jobs efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A professional, reliable and flexible approach to work
- Qualifications & Experience
- A relevant qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, IMI or equivalent industry experience is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence is essential for this mobile role.
