We are looking for a calm, emotionally mature, funny and active young male mentor to support a bright, funny 13-year-old boy with and strong personality and high-functioning autism who is currently out of school.
This is not a traditional care role. It is somewhere between mentoring, positive male role modelling, social coaching and companionship. The right person will be able to build a close, trusting and professional relationship while helping a young person regain confidence, structure, motivation and connection during a difficult transition period.
Noah is highly articulate, technically capable, funny, insightful and emotionally warm. He loves gaming, technology, skateboarding, skiing, movies, and humour. He can also be emotionally reactive at times and benefits massively from calm, grounded adults who never escalate situations or become overly authoritative or judgemental.
The role will involve spending 3–4 days a week with Noah across a mixture of:
- activities in the local community
- skateboarding
- going to the snow centre in Hemel Hempstead for Skiing/Snowboarding
- basketball
- airsoft in Essex (Mayhem airsoft)
- boxing
- gym sessions at Virgin Active
- mentoring conversations
- helping him develop interests and confidence
- emotional regulation support
- encouraging healthy routines and social confidence
The support will mainly take place around Crouch End, North London, between both parents’ homes which are close to one another.

You are probably:
- Between 19–25 years old
- Calm and unshakable under pressure and emotionally steady
- Naturally funny with a good sense of humour
- Into gaming, technology, AI, sports, fitness or outdoor activities
- Able to connect with teenagers in a genuine way
- Warm, grounded and non-judgemental
- Comfortable setting boundaries in a calm and respectful way
- The kind of person young people naturally trust and gravitate toward
- Highly organised and reliable
- Technically competent
You do not need to be a traditional “support worker type”, but you do need emotional intelligence, maturity and reliability.
Experience with autism, mentoring, youth work, coaching or younger siblings would be highly valuable.
Essential Requirements (please do not apply if you are missing one of these)
- Full UK driving licence
- Based in or near North London
- Able to skateboard confidently
- Able to Ski or Snowboard
- Confident taking part in sports and physical activities
- Able to commit for a minimum of 6 months
- Comfortable supporting emotional regulation and social development
- Strong communication skills
- Strong sense of humour
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Highly Desirable
- Understanding of high-functioning autism
- Experience working with young people
- Interest in gaming and technology
- Skiing or snowboarding experience
- Boxing, basketball or fitness background
- Good cooking skills / healthy lifestyle habits
- Ability to introduce Noah to new interests, hobbies and experiences
- Comfortable helping a teenager navigate humour, boundaries and social appropriateness without shaming or policing personality

Important Notes About Noah
Noah is bright, funny, insightful and very quick-witted. He enjoys humour and can sometimes push boundaries socially in a very sharp, “says the thing everyone else is thinking” kind of way. The right mentor will not be overly sensitive or judgemental, but will instead help him understand social context, timing and appropriateness in a calm and respectful way.
He responds best to people who are:

This role could genuinely have a major positive impact on a young person’s life at a critical stage of development.
Reliability and emotional consistency are probably more important for Noah than qualifications alone. A calm, stable, emotionally intelligent young adult with good values and natural rapport may genuinely outperform someone with years of formal support experience but low warmth, rigidity or ego. The right person will understand that this role is about building trust, stability, confidence and healthy identity during a very important stage of Noah’s development.
