As a Tool Fitter, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our hire equipment is safe, reliable and ready for customers. You'll be responsible for servicing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of tools and equipment, helping to maximise availability while delivering the highest standards of quality, safety and performance.
What does the Small Tools Fitter role involve?
In the workshop:
- Service, repair and maintain a wide range of hire equipment and tools to company standards.
- Ensure all equipment is safe, compliant and ready for hire, maintaining quality, reliability and availability across the fleet.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Maximise workshop productivity while supporting depot performance targets.
- Identify and report equipment defects, particularly those relating to safety, reliability or operational performance.
- Maintain accurate service records and update internal systems, including Spanner, DSP and daily worksheets.
- Support stock availability by ensuring equipment is turned around efficiently and returned to service quickly.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
Working as part of the team:
- Champion Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the depot to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and share technical knowledge where appropriate.
- Contribute to a positive team culture focused on safety, service and operational excellence.
- Take ownership of your work and consistently deliver high standards of workmanship and customer service.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience maintaining, servicing or repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
- A positive attitude and solution-focused mindset.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable using computer systems to maintain service records and job information.
- Good numerical skills and an understanding of workshop processes.
- Manual handling experience would be beneficial.
- A commitment to safety, quality and delivering excellent service.
