Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and compassionate support worker with a full clean UK driving licence to work alongside and enable a young gentleman with physical disabilities, with no independent mobility. He is a full time wheelchair user, who has both manual and electric wheelchairs and a WAV to assist him to further independence. There is a ceiling track hoist, an adapted wet room and a though floor lift within the home. This young chap is extremely sociable, friendly, charismatic, loves to discuss current affairs, has a wicked sense of humour and enjoys catching up with friends and family as well as meeting new people. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, demonstrate the ability to promote independence and hold a full clean UK driving license, vehicle available for use when on shift. This position would ideally suit a male due to some personal care being required and service user request for male companion/support.
This post is for a Monday each week plus x2 sleep ins every four weeks. The day shift will be for 9 hours per day - 09.00am - 18.00pm. However, some flexibility will be required to ensure needs are met and managed when family are not available.
Additional hours may be available with this service user to cover holiday and sickness or with other service users within the company.
Responsibilities:
- Support and encourage with personal care.
- Support service user to participate in his chosen hobbies - cinema, buying and reselling items, eating out, visiting new places, going for a drive, Watching TV.
- Moving and Handling
- Ensuring service user safety and well-being at all times
- Liaising with family as main carers.
- Ensuring nutritional needs are met.
