Buxted Medical Centre, together with our East Hoathly and Manor Oak (Horam) branch surgeries, is a welcoming and forward-thinking GP practice set in the beautiful Sussex countryside. As a GP Training Practice and member of the Greater Wealden PCN, we are committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a supportive and friendly environment.
We are a busy, expanding practice caring for approximately 16,000 patients across our three sites. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Receptionist to join our experienced team, providing an excellent first point of contact for our patients.
Hours: 39 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, 7.45am–6.30pm (job share will be considered for the right candidates).
The role includes:
- Managing and maintaining the appointment system.
- Processing appointment requests in person, by telephone and online.
- Answering incoming telephone calls and dealing with enquiries efficiently and professionally.
- Signposting patients to the most appropriate service.
- Responding to enquiries from patients, colleagues and external organisations.
- Clinically coding information onto EMIS following training.
- Registering new and temporary patients and updating patient records.
- Entering and maintaining accurate patient information.
- Directing requests such as Subject Access Requests (SARs), insurance reports, solicitor enquiries and DVLA forms to the appropriate administrative team.
- Managing general reception enquiries efficiently and courteously.
- Undertaking system searches as requested.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming reception environment.
- Keeping reception displays and noticeboards up to date.
- Providing administrative support to the clinical team as required.
- Allocating consulting rooms to clinicians and other room users.
About you
You will enjoy working as part of a busy team, remain calm under pressure and have a genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Previous reception or customer service experience is desirable, and experience within a GP practice or healthcare setting would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
