Job Summary
We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Part-Time Optical Assistant to join our team at our independent opticians in Littleborough.
This is a great opportunity for a university student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional healthcare environment. It could be particularly suited to someone studying Optometry, Healthcare, or another patient-focused subject, although we’d love to hear from anyone with great people skills and a genuine interest in the role.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work alongside our optometrists and dispensing team and get involved in lots of different aspects of the practice, including:
- Welcoming patients and helping them throughout their visit
- Booking appointments and managing patient enquiries
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of the practice
- Helping patients choose frames and eyewear
- Supporting the team with dispensing and optical administration
- Maintaining frame displays and eyewear stock
- Helping prepare patients and consulting rooms for appointments
- Learning about the different clinical and specialist eyecare services we provide
Who we’re looking for

You’ll ideally be:
- Friendly, approachable and professional
- Comfortable speaking with people of all ages
- Organised and able to use your initiative
- Reliable and happy working as part of a small team
- Confident using computers and learning new systems
- Interested in healthcare, eyecare and delivering really good customer service
Previous experience in an opticians, healthcare setting, reception or customer-facing role would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential – we’re happy to provide training for the right person.

Pay: £12.75-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 per week
