ABOUT THIS ROLE:
s an Electrical Project Engineer (HV Projects), you will bridge the gap between site supervision and project management, taking ownership of the technical delivery of high voltage electrical projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV throughout the construction phase.
This role is ideally suited to experienced Electrical Supervisors, Commissioning Engineers, Electrical QA/QC Professionals, Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs), Authorised Persons (APs), Senior Electricians or Site Engineers looking to take the next step in their career and progress into project engineering. It offers an excellent opportunity to expand your technical, quality, commercial and leadership responsibilities while developing towards Project Manager and other senior operational roles within H&MV Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HV construction delivery, coordinating site teams and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and on-programme execution to approved designs and specifications.
- Act as the technical link between design and construction, managing scopes of work, technical queries, drawings, design changes and submittals while capturing lessons learned and coordinating technical interfaces with clients, DNO’s and other key stakeholders.
- Manage electrical subcontractors, ensuring compliance with programme, quality, safety and contractual requirements.
- Drive QA/QC activities, overseeing ITPs, quality inspections, observations, installation verification, commissioning support and project handover documentation.
- Coordinate FATs, material approvals, procurement activities and project meetings, resolving technical issues, mitigating risks and maintaining programme.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor safety, quality, productivity and compliance with company procedures, client requirements and industry standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor site teams, maintain project records and reports, and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality and project delivery.
Key Requirements
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent HV construction experience; degree desirable but not essential.
- Minimum 5 years' experience delivering HV projects across substations, T&D, renewables, BESS, data centres or industrial sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of HV systems and construction, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience managing construction quality, including ITPs, QA/QC processes, inspections, FATs and handover documentation.
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors, site teams and stakeholders to safely deliver projects to programme.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and make sound technical decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management platforms (e.g. Procore, ACC), with a full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
