Warehouse Manager
Southern Ropes is an established UK supplier and manufacturer of high-performance ropes and lifting solutions, supporting customers across the commercial marine, offshore, defence, industrial and leisure sectors.
The position is for a hands-on Warehouse Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our warehouse operation.
This is a practical leadership role responsible for ensuring work is planned, prioritised and completed safely, accurately and on time, while maintaining high standards of organisation, stock control and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan and prioritise daily warehouse workload and allocate jobs clearly across the team.
· Lead a short daily warehouse meeting covering priorities, urgent orders, staffing, dispatches and any issues.
· Act as the main point of contact between the Warehouse and Sales/Office teams, ensuring priorities and deadlines are clearly communicated.
· Ensure customer orders are produced, packed and dispatched accurately and on time.
· Take ownership of Health & Safety, housekeeping and safe working practices within the warehouse.
· Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, storage and cleanliness.
· Oversee stock accuracy, stock locations, open reels, remnants and consumables.
· Ensure machinery, forklifts and warehouse equipment are checked, maintained and used correctly.
· Identify potential problems, stock shortages or bottlenecks before they affect customer orders.
· Support, motivate and develop warehouse staff, including training and skills development.
· Manage holidays, absence and workload to ensure adequate warehouse coverage.
· Help introduce and maintain clear warehouse processes, responsibilities and continuous improvements.
· Support bespoke rope preparation, cutting, splicing and other production requirements where necessary.
· Report operational issues, risks and performance to management and confidently challenge unrealistic priorities where required.
We are looking for someone who is:
· A confident and practical people manager.
· Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
· Comfortable taking responsibility and making day-to-day operational decisions.
· Strong on Health & Safety and warehouse standards.
· Able to communicate effectively with both warehouse staff and office/sales teams.
· Proactive rather than reactive, with a focus on improving processes.
· Comfortable working hands-on alongside the team when required.
· Experienced in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
·
Experience with stock-management systems, forklifts, warehouse machinery or industrial products would be advantageous.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
