Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 08:30am – 17:00pm and Friday 08:30am – 14:00pm (30-minute unpaid break each day, excluding Fridays)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Our client is a leading manufacturing business supplying complex engineered components into a highly regulated sector. Operating from a modern facility in Telford, the company is currently experiencing significant growth and investment, introducing new manufacturing processes and technologies across its operations.
Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and equipment. The successful candidate will ideally have experience within high-volume manufacturing environments such as die casting, injection moulding, stamping, or similar production technologies.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and equipment across the facility.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing manufacturing concepts, supporting equipment selection, managing capital projects, and implementing lean manufacturing principles to optimise operational performance and support business growth.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of manufacturing technologies including casting, heat treatment, CNC machining, assembly, automation, and material handling systems.
Role Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Equipment Development
- Act as the technical lead for new equipment proposals.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop standards and improve Statements of Requirements (SORs).
- Develop and standardise documentation from concept through to production.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver manufacturing solutions.
- Prepare and update equipment SORs and technical comparison documentation.
- Maintain supplier databases in collaboration with the Purchasing Department.
- Identify and assess new suppliers and verify technical capabilities.
- Summarise equipment and installation costs to support business quotations and investment decisions.
- Standardise components where possible to minimise spare parts inventory costs.
- Lead CAPEX projects associated with equipment purchasing, installation, timing, and budget control.
- Support major equipment installations alongside Maintenance and Operational teams.
- Lead Machine FMEA and PFMEA activities for major equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Apply APQP methodologies throughout project delivery.
- Utilise DFMA principles to develop robust manufacturing processes and automation solutions.
- Create cycle grams and utilisation charts for manufacturing processes.
- Conduct cost analysis and support budget control activities.
Lean Manufacturing & Process Improvement
- Implement standardised work methods and operating procedures.
- Support equipment and facility layouts to optimise material flow and minimise waste using Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve operational performance.
- Develop pre-production packaging solutions for Work in Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods.
Project Management
- Lead equipment supplier management, installation, commissioning, and acceptance activities.
- Manage project timelines to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
- Lead equipment drawing reviews and approvals with suppliers and internal SMEs.
- Provide timely feedback and approvals throughout project execution.
- Support and document supplier equipment run-offs prior to shipment.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and final equipment acceptance activities.
- Manage engineering changes and project risks effectively.
Additional Responsibilities
- Understand process documentation and customer-specific requirements relating to equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Prepare and present technical information during programme review meetings.
- Coordinate with departmental leaders on RFQs, proposals, statements of work, and technical specifications.
- Support delivery of contract requirements and project milestones.
- Promote Health, Safety and Environmental standards across the department and wider business.
- Perform additional duties as reasonably required by management.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
- Experience within die casting, injection moulding, stamping, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Proven project management experience within manufacturing or engineering.
- Experience leading FMEA activities for manufacturing processes and equipment purchases.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and practical application.
- Familiarity with equipment tendering and supplier selection processes.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.

Working Environment
- Primarily based between the manufacturing facility and office environment.
- Plant conditions may involve exposure to heat, cold, dust, hot surfaces, and industrial noise.
- Full Health & Safety training and PPE will be provided.
- Flexibility to work additional hours and occasional weekends to support project requirements.
- Regular travel to customer and supplier sites throughout the UK, Europe, and internationally may be required.
