Overview
Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a role that genuinely stretches your skills? At Nettleham Medical Practice we are looking for a HR Manager who thrives on variety — someone who can move from reviewing a training matrix in the morning, to supporting a member of staff through a sensitive conversation in the afternoon, to overhauling our onboarding process by the end of the week.
This is not a backroom admin post. You will be a visible, trusted presence across the whole practice — the person our team turns to for guidance, support and solutions. Working 20 hours per week over 3 or 4 days.
Responsibilities
You will be the single point of expertise for all HR and workforce matters across the practice. The breadth of this role is genuinely unusual — and for the right person, that is exactly what makes it exciting.
On any given week you might be:
- Running a recruitment campaign on NHS Jobs and/or Indeed, shortlisting candidates and arranging interviews
- Managing the mandatory training matrix and chasing down outstanding certificates before a CQC inspection
- Supporting a colleague through a return-to-work conversation after a period of sickness
- Setting up system access and Smartcards for a new starter, and making sure day one goes smoothly
- Handling a disciplinary process fairly and in line with employment law
- Coordinating a Protected Learning Time session for the whole team
- Processing GP annual leave on Omnirota and fielding day-to-day queries from staff
Full details of the responsibilities are set out in the job description, available on request.
Qualifications & Experience
- Solid, hands-on HR experience — recruitment, absence management, employee relations, onboarding
- Confidence handling sensitive situations with discretion, empathy and professionalism
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle a genuinely varied workload
- A good working knowledge of employment law and NHS or public sector HR frameworks
- Attention to detail — especially around compliance, data protection and system access
- A CIPD qualification (Level 3 desirable) or equivalent experience.
Closing Date - Friday 24th July 2026
Interviews will be held in early August 2026.
Pay: £40,000.00 per year
