LHCC Group is recruiting an experienced and motivated Team Leader – Mental Health to support the Registered/Home Manager in the day-to-day management of our residential and supported living services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior care professional looking to progress into a leadership role within a growing organisation.

37.5hrs per week (Full-time)
OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
- To empower residents to live, for as long as required in a comfortable home, with the opportunity of enhancing their quality of life.
- Providing supports and stimulation to help residents maximise their potential physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.
- Supervision of junior staff and monitoring the proper daily running of the home.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management
- Support the Manager/Registered Manager in overseeing all aspects of service delivery and general operations.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the home.
- Participate in recruitment and selection processes, ensuring safe and robust hiring practices.
- Provide leadership, guidance, decision-making support, and supervision to Support Workers, Seniors
- Offer in-house training.
- To manage finance and budgets of the home.
- Assessing clients for the suitability of the home.
- Knowledge of current legislation of the Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) and Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 and their Regulations.
- Knowledge of the GSCC Code of practice
- To ensure knowledge of the Safe Working Practises
- To work both individually and as a member of a Multicultural Disciplinary Team.
- Lead team meetings and contribute to management reports, service reviews, and quality improvement plans
- To undergo appropriate training.
- To be available for supervision as required.
- To work effectively with volunteers and any other members of staff.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, respect, empowerment, and person-centred practice.
- Support staff in implementing safe working practices and maintaining service standards.
- Assist in managing staff performance, conduct, and capability procedures when necessary.
Operational Duties
- Support with rota planning, shift cover, and ensuring staffing levels meet assessed need.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing responsive support to staff and service users.
- Oversee accurate monitoring and recording of service users’ progress, outcomes, and daily documentation.
- Ensure support plans, risk assessments, and reviews are current, personalised, and reflective of individual needs.
- Act as a key worker where required, supporting continuity of care, engagement, and goal planning.
- Assist with domestic, housekeeping, and environmental standards to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
- Assist in arranging and supporting social activities, community participation, and meaningful engagement opportunities.
Quality, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations, KLOEs, Local Authority requirements, and organisational policies.
- Update the CQC in line with CQC and Local Authority (LA) framework requirements, ensuring all mandatory notifications, service changes, and quality assurances are submitted in a timely manner.
- Participate in internal audits, quality checks, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support safeguarding processes in line with statutory guidance, including reporting, documentation, and multi-agency cooperation.
- Ensure robust medication handling systems in accordance with legislation and organisational procedures.
- Support the Registered Manager during inspections, contract reviews, and professional visits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation (Health & Social Care Act, Mental Health Act, MCA/DoLS/ LPS).
Service Users
1. To ensure that all Service Users have an equal opportunity to enjoy a friendly, homely and stimulating atmosphere within the home, thereby encouraging them to lead as full a life as possible.
2. To contribute to the formulation and implementation of individual plans of care for Service Users.
3. To act as a key worker to individual residents, in close collaboration with members of staff, establishing programmes of care on an individual basis, to enable each Service User to maximise their personal and social capabilities.
4. To ensure reports of daily assessments are written in the Service Users’ records on a daily basis.
5. To build an effective and therapeutic relationship with the Service Users and their families, especially where acting as Key-worker observing discretion and confidentiality as appropriate.
6. To develop personal skills relative to the needs of the Service Users, including skills in communication, observation and active listening.
7. To attend the staff hand–over meeting and to act upon discussion and information generated at these meetings.
8. Assist and accompany service users to activities meetings, appointments, training centre, etc…
9. Where applicable, to assist in the safekeeping, storage, administration and handling of medication in accordance with the current legislation.
10. To respect the cultural and spiritual needs of the Service Users by assisting in the provisions of facilities for the spiritual observances.
11. To assist with arranging and supporting social activities with Service Users, e.g. Outings and other stimulating activities.
12. To participate in all aspects of domestic and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home as outlined by the Service Manager.
13. To be aware of security measures, i.e. not to admit anyone to the home who is not known or expected at the establishment.
14. To check and maintain security of the building.
15. Provide care for people with Mental health support needs who is discharged under the section 117 of the Mental Health Act 1983 (After-care).
16. Promote independence, inclusion, choice, and recovery in line with person-centred values.
17. Support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care where required and appropriate.
18. Encourage development of life skills, social engagement, and community access.
19. Advocate for service users’ rights, wellbeing, safeguarding, and autonomy.
20. Respect cultural, spiritual, and individual preferences, ensuring equality and inclusion.

LIASON
To assist in ensuring that Service Users maintain close links with the community through their relatives, friends, volunteers, clubs and other organisations.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
- To be aware of and comply with Working Practices as laid down under the Health and Safety at Work Act and as applicable to the home procedures.
- To ensure the safety of all personnel in the building, checking of regulations and regular inspection of fire safety equipment
- Conduct or oversee environmental and building checks, including security, cleanliness, and maintenance.
- Report defects in buildings, equipment, or systems promptly to management.
- Must have clear full driving license with business insurance and access to own vehicle with valid MOT and Road Tax
- To ensure that the required systems as per current standards are in place.
- To ensure that any incidents to staff, Service Users or volunteers are reported in accordance with correct procedures.
- Support service users in maintaining clean and safe rooms/flats including direct assistance where needed.
- To ensure the premises are clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensure access control procedures are followed and unknown individuals are not admitted without verification.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
- Support induction, training, and competency development of new and existing staff.
- Identify skills gaps and promote ongoing learning and development within the team.
- Deliver internal training sessions where appropriate.
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD), reflective practice, and supervision.
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
- Assist with budgeting, petty cash, and financial processes.
- Oversee service user finances in line with policies, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Maintain accurate, timely records, incident reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Support with HR compliance, staff file maintenance, and recruitment administration.
OTHER
1. To carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Service Manager/Director.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential
- Experience in supported living, residential care, or social care environments.
- Level 3 Diploma (RQF) in Adult Care, Health & Social Care or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Applicants currently working towards a Level 3 qualification will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of person-centred support and safeguarding procedures.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
- Understanding of CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs) and regulatory frameworks.
Desirable
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, autism, or complex needs.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Working towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care is desirable.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within residential care, supported living or mental health services.
- Good knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and person-centred care.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
