The role is to deliver our Be Your Own Boss self-employment course at HMP Ashfield near Bristol.
Using the course materials provided, the tutor enables learners to explore self-employment as a means of earning a legitimate income and develop a plan they can use in the future. The course runs on a part-time basis, with learners accessing one morning or afternoon session per week for up to 8 weeks.
Class sizes are typically 6 learner or less, which leads to a more personalised offering. There is also the potential to provide 1-1 coaching
It is also the responsibility of the tutor to complete a range of administration tasks as required to ensure compliance with the regime, including organising learner schedules, messaging learners, completing attendance records as well as liaising with other deliver partners.
The tutor is required to complete end of course assessments with the learners and produce a course summary for the prison.
The working day is from 8am to 5pm to meet the requirements of the prison regime. Morning sessions are 8.15am to 11.45am and afternoon sessions are 1.30pm to 4.45pm.
For context HMP Ashfield is a Cat C prison operated by Serco , with a population of 410 people all who are convicted of a sexual offence. It provides several intervention courses and various education and skills-based courses to support reducing re-offending upon release.
A person with current enhanced vetting, and with experience of delivering within a prison setting would be the ideal candidate.
Previous or current experience of running a small business would be preferred so they can provide real-world experience to the learners.
The role is part time, for 2 days per week, days to be agreed.
Pay: £220.00-£240.00 per day
