Our Tax Technology team is dynamic, fast-paced and mission driven.
The role of the Scrum Master & PMO lead (AI, Automation & Digital Skills) is a highly visible, national Internal Tax Technology role responsible for leading Agile delivery practices and portfolio governance across multiple AI, automation and digital skills workstreams.
You will ensure the team's priorities are translated into clear, coordinated and well-executed delivery plans whilst maintaining oversight of delivery performance, governance, risks, dependencies and team effectiveness.
Acting as both Scrum Master and PMO lead, you will work closely with delivery teams, product owners and stakeholders to facilitate Agile ways of working, remove impediments, drive continuous improvement and provide leadership with clear delivery insight and transparency.
This is a hands-on role in a small yet growing, fast moving team, combining Agile delivery leadership, portfolio governance, delivery coordination and active problem solving.
You will make an impact by:
- Working with the team to turn strategic priorities into clear, trackable and well-executed delivery plans.
- Maintaining real-time visibility of progress, risks, dependencies and blockers.
- Actively removing delivery impediments and maintaining momentum across workstreams.
- Ensuring delivery accountability sits with owners whilst enabling them through strong coordination and support.
- Providing high-quality insight that enables effective prioritisation and decision-making at Director level.
- Embedding Agile ways of working that improve team effectiveness, collaboration and delivery predictability.
- Driving continuous improvement through retrospectives, delivery metrics and coaching.
- Establishing consistent portfolio governance, reporting and delivery management standards across the Internal Tax Technology function.
- Providing a trusted source of delivery truth across the portfolio through accurate reporting, planning and governance oversight.
Agile & Scrum Leadership

Facilitate effective Agile delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring teams are focused on delivering value. Lead Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.

Coach and support teams on Agile principles and best practice.

Identify, manage and remove delivery impediments impacting team performance.

Support Product Owners in maintaining prioritised, well-defined backlogs.

Monitor Agile delivery metrics and use insights to drive continuous improvement.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency and continuous learning.
Portfolio Governance & PMO Leadership

Own and continuously improve portfolio governance processes and reporting.

Maintain portfolio roadmaps, milestones and delivery plans across all workstreams.

Establish and manage RAID management standards and processes.

Manage cross-team dependencies and support timely resolution of delivery risks and issues.

Track portfolio health, delivery performance, resource utilisation and capacity.

Produce high-quality governance reporting leadership.

Coordinate portfolio planning, prioritisation and governance review cycles.

Ensure actions, decisions and agreed outcomes are tracked through to completion.

Proven experience operating as a Scrum Master and PMO lead or similar role within technology, digital or transformation environments.

Experience coordinating delivery across multiple teams, workstreams or portfolios.

Strong understanding of Agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban.

Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and driving continuous improvement.

Strong understanding of delivery governance, including RAID management, dependency tracking and portfolio reporting.

Experience producing executive-level reporting and insights for senior stakeholders.

Ability to bring structure, clarity and delivery discipline to fast-moving and evolving environments.

Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.

Experience implementing or improving governance processes, delivery standards and controls.

Strong communication, facilitation and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
What Would Make You Stand Out

Background in professional services or complex advisory environments.

Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) qualification.

AgilePM, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMO or equivalent delivery governance certification.

Experience working in environments where delivery execution and prioritisation are clearly separated.

Ability to act as a connector across teams, removing friction and enabling delivery flow.

Experience scaling Agile practices across multiple teams or portfolios.

Experience establishing or maturing PMO and governance functions within growing teams.
