Job Overview
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and technical oversight of electrical systems in materials handling equipment and associated equipment. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role ensures that all electrical engineering work meets regulatory, safety, and quality standards while supporting both new build and aftermarket projects. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer provides technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the electrical engineering team and acts as a key technical advisor across projects.
The main responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer are, but not limited to:
· Develop designs and specifications for control systems for Wellman Booth products.
· Co-ordinate site, application and design engineering resources to meet project’s technical requirement.
· Ensure effective interface between design, production, procurement and site to optimise project costs and implementation.
· Develop a working understanding of Crane Industry Standards.
· Manage technical content of projects with respect to cost, quality, contract documentation, specifications, etc.
· Manage engineering content of projects to budget (i.e. design hours, outsourcing, site labour, etc.)
· Manage the electrical engineering content of the above.
· Attend Customer sites when necessary.
· Liaise with customers engineering representatives.
Any other duties as directed by the Engineering Manager which are within the Engineers’ capabilities.
Key accountabilities

· Design engineering interface with production, procurement, installation and commissioning.
Technical project requirements.
Education and Qualifications
Degree in electrical engineering preferred although comparable qualifications and experience will be considered.
Experience and Key Competencies
Ideally to have:
· Design engineering experience in a drawing office environment.
· Project management awareness.
· Constructive approach to work within a dedicated team.
· IT skills (Word/Excel/Outlook) together with a working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical 2020 / 2022.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Knowledge of low voltage motor speed control applications
· Knowledge of materials handling equipment
Knowledge of relay logic and designing to meet BS EN 13849 Safety of machinery and BS EN 61508 Functional safety of electrical/ electronic/ programmable electronic safety-related systems
Must be eligible to work in the UK and willing to complete all necessary paperwork as required in order to gain the required security clearance to work at certain sites outside of Leeds office (main base/location). Such paperwork must be completed within the time frame given.
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
