Changing Lives are a Charity based in Clevedon support those who have been through Trauma.
We are seeking a Volunteer to come and serve in the position of Van Driver or Van Mate.

We would consider anyone who could give us a regular day each week (so we can plan our services) or someone who would be happy to be a last minute back up in case any of the team are sick.
I have listed below some of the activities you could be involved in. Please note ,you will not be alone and will have someone experienced with you at all times.
Job Purpose:
The Van Driver will be part of a team responsible for house clearances, bulky waste collections and the collection of donated stock from donor’s houses and safely transporting it to a central warehouse or our shops. The Driver will also be responsible for the safe delivery of sold items to customer’s premises. This position will require someone who is physically fit and able to move heavy items of furniture, with assistance. The person will carry out many duties during the day.
Main Responsibilities:
● Collecting and delivering furniture and other goods including
shop deliveries
● Reporting any vehicle maintenance issues & overall responsibility, when driving the Charity’s vehicle, for:
▪ Daily servicing, safety & damage checks, and refuelling as required
▪ Keeping the vehicle clean and tidy
▪ Ensuring the vehicle is correctly loaded and restrained
Supporting the shops/warehouse by:
● Applying the acceptance criteria for donated stock.
● Delivering furniture to customers’ premises, to the point of use,
assisted by (volunteer) staff as required
● Liaising with customers and supporters to promote the work of the Charity
● Responsibility to ensure van is empty and stock and/or items to dispose of are correctly placed as directed by the warehouse manager.
● Ensure sold items as collected from shops are correctly stored as per date rotation, in the ‘sold’ bay at the warehouse.

● An understanding of the skills required to safely deliver furniture to premises with access difficulties

● Loading, stowing and transporting goods safely
● Ability and fit to lift and carry
● Full driving licence

Pay: £5.00 per day
