Swimming Teacher
Hours Available: 6.5–9.5 hours per week, with opportunities for additional school swimming teaching hours
Evening Hours: Some evenings, approximately 4:00 pm–7:00 pm
Sunday: 8:30 am–12:00 noon
School Swimming: Some daytime hours available between 9:00 am–3:00 pm
Location: Water Stars Foundation, including pools across Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding areas
Essential Requirements
We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and reliable Swimming Teacher to join our growing team.
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Hold a valid recognised swimming teaching qualification.
- Have a fully enhanced DBS checkcompleted and paid for.
- Be confident teaching children aged 3 years through to advanced swimmers.
- Be able to deliver safe, progressive and engaging swimming lessons.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both children and parents.
- Be passionate about encouraging children, supporting their development and helping them build lifelong swimming skills and confidence.
- Be willing to follow our structured lesson plans to ensure consistency and quality across all lessons.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a genuine interest in developing and growing within the company.
A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.
About the Role
As a Swimming Teacher with Water Stars Foundation, you will play an important role in helping children develop their swimming ability, water confidence and lifelong skills in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment.
You will teach children across a range of abilities, from beginners aged 3+ through to advanced swimmers, adapting your approach to meet individual needs while following our structured teaching programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, engaging and progressive swimming lessons for children aged 3+ through to advanced levels.
- Follow Water Stars Foundation's structured lesson plans and teaching programme.
- Assess children's progress each term against the Water Stars Awards criteria.
- Provide encouragement and positive support to help children develop confidence, technique and lifelong swimming skills.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with children, parents and colleagues.
- Monitor and support individual children's development and adapt teaching where appropriate.
- Accurately record children's attendance using the Water Stars App.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, safety and professionalism at all times.
- Work collaboratively with existing swimming teachers and the wider team.
- Contribute positively to the continued growth and development of Water Stars Foundation.
