As an Assistant Director, you will play a central leadership role in delivering complex consumer enforcement cases and shaping the CMAs wider consumer agenda. Working within multi-disciplinary teams, you will lead investigations into issues such as price transparency, online choice architecture and misleading practices, using powers under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 to drive compliance and change.
You will be responsible for leading projects from inception to delivery, ensuring high-quality, robust and evidence-based outcomes. This includes managing enforcement activity, overseeing case strategy and risk, and ensuring work is delivered in line with legal and procedural requirements. You will also lead the development of remedies and compliance approaches that deliver impact across sectors.
A key aspect of the role is building strong relationships with stakeholders, including businesses, government and international counterparts, and representing the CMAs work externally. You will also contribute to the strategic direction of the Consumer Protection Group and support wider organisational priorities.
Alongside this, you will lead and develop high-performing teams, providing direction, coaching and support to colleagues across case delivery. You will foster an inclusive, collaborative environment and help build capability across the organisation.
To succeed, you will bring strong experience of leading complex investigations, enforcement or regulatory work, with the ability to manage risk, interpret evidence and make sound decisions. You will also be an effective communicator, able to engage and influence a range of stakeholders and deliver high-quality written outputs.
