At Care North East, we are expanding our team and looking for experienced, reliable, and compassionate self-employed domiciliary care workers and bank staff to support our growing community-based care services and extra care schemes.
Please note that domiciliary care is part of this position. You will be required to travel to people's homes and provide care within the community, supporting individuals in their own homes.
You must therefore be comfortable travelling between service users' homes and be able to work across a reasonable travelling distance from your location. The ability to reliably travel to and between care visits is an essential part of the role.

The Role
As a Self-Employed / Bank Domiciliary Care Worker, you will support individuals to live independently, safely, and with dignity in their own homes and, where required, within supported living or extra care environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing personal care including washing, dressing and toileting
- Supporting with medication, where required and appropriately trained
- Assisting with meal preparation and nutrition
- Supporting with mobility and moving & handling
- Promoting independence, choice and dignity
- Maintaining accurate care records and reporting concerns
- Working in line with care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
- Travelling between service users' homes to deliver scheduled care visits
- Building positive, respectful relationships with the people you support

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in domiciliary care, health, or social care
- A compassionate, reliable and professional approach
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills
- An understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Right to Work in the UK
- Good timekeeping and reliability when travelling between care visits
- Willingness and ability to travel within a reasonable distance to provide care in people's homes
Important Information – Self-Employed / Bank
- This role is offered on a self-employed or zero-hours bank basis
- You will have flexibility over your availability
- For self-employed roles, you are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance contributions
- Work is offered based on service requirements and your availability
- Domiciliary care forms the main part of this role, so applicants must be prepared to travel to and between service users' homes
- You should only apply if you are able to reliably travel within a reasonable geographical area for scheduled care visits
