The postholder will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient equipment and supplies in the department area and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
- They will work independently but as an integral part of the A&E team and will be required to work closely with contractors and support service departments ensuring the delivery of stocks, equipment and minor maintenance.
- He/she will monitor quality standards, report deficiencies and take appropriate action.
- They will have systems for accurate record keeping; this will include the maintenance of documentation and inputting of data.
Key areas of responsibility
- Patients and their relatives/friends
- Members of the multidisciplinary teams
- Support services, i.e portering and cleaning, suppliers etc
- To be flexible in working practices to meet the needs of the service.
1. Patient / client care (both direct & indirect)
- To monitor all equipment in the department against agreed standards and policy including specialist equipment.
- Be responsible for utilising the computer order system to ensure adequate stock in the department, and be responsible for raising orders when required for new equipment
- Independently take appropriate action to deal with any repairs to equipment that is required.
- In conjunction with the multi professional teams
