Are you a social, engaging, caring person who likes to learn new skills? This could be the role for you. This position is to provide support for a male in his late twenties who has a traumatic brain injury (TBI). He requires the use of a wheelchair-walker (rollator) alongside support to enable him to carry out everyday tasks and to also increase his own independence whilst encouraging his ongoing rehabilitation.
Below is a list of various activities, which require assistance within his routine, full training provided. - Supporting specialist physical therapy sessions, and hydrotherapy sessions alongside professionals. - Completing home exercise programs, gym programs and specialist anti-gravity treadmill sessions. -
Assistance to attend social and support groups such as brain injury matters etc. - Support to attend appointments such as dentists, medical appointments, hairdressers & leisure activities, shopping, social outings etc. - General supervision to ensure safety and reduce risk of falls. - Assistance with computers, typing, and other forms of technology. - Personal care, no hands-on care required, support with shaving, nail trimming and supervision. -
Preparation of meals,-Assist in daily planning and time management to support daily routine. -supporting night time rountine. Supervision, tranfers.
Companionship, effective communication, social skills, and good listening skills. -
Cleaning- maintaining a clean and tidy environment, light cleaning duties, laundry and so on.
Person Specification Essential Skills & Criteria - Experience within brain injury, complex needs, caring sector, support worker, personal assistant, rehabilitation assistant, personal trainer or similar role/transferable skills will be considered. - A willingness to learn and complete training. - Reliable, Punctual, Good Communication Skills and respect for Confidentiality - Must hold a driving license & be comfortable driving a wheelchair-accessible van and be comfortable driving. Appointments are held in Coleraine, Ballymena, and Belfast.
Desirable - An interest in keeping active, attending gym, pilates or other physical hobbies interests. - Awareness of brain injury or disability.
Flexiable to support on shorts breaks away, attend rehabilation and respite.
